25/10/25-2/11/25
During the autumn break, the museum will be filled with mythical monsters and creatures.
Join the monster hunt, where you’ll search the exhibition for dragons, giants, and beasts, and record them in a bestiary. A völva, a Viking Age seeress, will also be present. Those who dare can have their future told by the völva in the longhouse every day between 10:00–12:00 and 14:00–16:00.
Come and see how Viking Age people dyed their clothes! On Tuesday, September 28, and Wednesday, September 29, we’ll be demonstrating plant dyeing outside the museum.
On All Hallows’ Eve, October 31, we hold our annual Alvablot, one of the most important Viking sacrificial rites of the year, honoring departed ancestors. The blot begins with a themed guided tour at 15:30 in the exhibition and concludes with a historically inspired ceremony and song outside the museum. To join the guided tour, regular museum admission applies, but it’s also possible to attend only the blot, which is free of charge and starts at 16:00.
Throughout the week, you can also try Viking coin minting daily between 14:00–16:00 and strike your very own coin.
Every day during the break we offer family tours at 11:30 and 13:30, with a slightly spookier twist than usual.
