Easter Break: Life on the Farm

30/3/26-12/4/26

Spring is here! Meet our Viking Age farmers during the Easter holiday and discover what crops and herbs they grew. Try grinding flour, taste a Viking-age herb and take home seeds to grow yourself.

In the exhibition you can also discover Viking Age leathercraft. Would you like to try working with leather, or perhaps bring home a beautiful handcrafted item?

Leathercraft times:

Monday–Friday (March 30–April 3 and April 6–9), 11:00–15:00. 11-15.

Outside the museum we will dye fabrics using plants, just like in the Viking Age. Learn about the herbs and natural materials used for plant dyeing and the colours most common in Viking Age clothing.

Plant dyeing times:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (March 31–April 2), 11:00–16:00 11-16

Easter Eve and Easter Day (April 4–5), 11:00–16:00 11-16

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 7–9), 11:00–16:00 11-16

Next to the museum in Galärparken, you can meet and pet sheep while learning how their wool was used during the Viking Age.

Good Friday (April 3), 10:00–15:00 10-15

We also offer family guided tours every day at 11:30 and 13:30.
